Concurrent Technologies Corp. and the University of Pittsburgh at Johnstown have formed a partnership to facilitate research opportunities for faculty and students.

Civil, chemical, computer, electrical and mechanical engineering students at the university will have direct access to the academic-industry alliance, CTC said Monday.

“Our engineers and scientists will collaborate with professors and students from Pitt-Johnstown through research and development projects that can lead to technology-based economic development,” said Ed Sheehan Jr., president and CEO of CTC.

He noted that academic-industry partnerships work to drive technology commercialization, entrepreneurship and technical community efforts.

Under the cooperation, Pitt-Johnstown and CTC will identify potential areas for technical information exchange and hold sessions to inform each other on their core competencies.

Both organizations will also conduct academic-industry sessions to discuss research concepts and collaborate on efforts to pursue research funding from external sources and submit proposals for grants and broad agency announcements, CTC said.
